Historical Carnival of Champlas du Col

Sestriere

folklore and traditions

In Sestriere, at Champlas du Col, a historic carnival was staged with a procession of masks. This ancient carnival, abandoned in 1947, had a new edition in 2005 and 2006.

The characters of the procession of masks were those typical of alpine carnivals: two Harlequins, two Police-men, two Doctors / Lawyers, the Cellarman, the Judge, the Narrator, two Old Men and an Old Woman, Lent, Carnival and the Carnival Daughter.

Parmi les moments importants de la représentation figurait le labour symbolique de la neige, un ancien rituel propitiatoire.
